ASEMA

The ASEMA bench collection was developed from a clear and purposeful idea: to design a series of benches using the same durable wooden elements across different structural bases – whether mounted on stone or concrete walls, or supported by steel frames. This approach ensures visual continuity and allows for the creation of coherent, harmonious public environments.
The name ASEMA, meaning “station” in Finnish, reflects the collection’s aesthetic roots. Inspired by the timeless atmosphere of railway stations and other city spaces where stone and concrete dominate, ASEMA benches are designed to feel both grounded and enduring – an elegant complement to urban architecture.
One of recent installations of ASEMA benches can be found in Carl Albert Edelfelt Square, right next to Tikkurila Station and Hotel Vantaa. The benches are part of the ongoing transformation of the square, which will soon feature the Korppi sculpture by artists Teija and Pekka Isorättyä, placed on a striking pedestal built from recycled bricks.
With their robust design and urban character, ASEMA benches introduce a modern layer to the square’s evolving identity. The benches rest on solid stone bases, allowing them to blend naturally with the surrounding materials while providing a strong, lasting presence.
Adaptability is at the heart of the ASEMA collection. Bench lengths and armrest placements can be customized to suit the specific requirements of each site, offering both comfort and design flexibility.
