Located in central Helsinki, at the intersection of Mannerheimintie and Linnankoskenkatu, the TÖÖLÖ collection is now part of one of the city’s most recognisable urban environments.
On Linnankoskenkatu, the installation includes two benches and chairs, all integrated into a stone base.
Together with the nearby tram stop and an EV charging station, the setting forms a cohesive urban ensemble – a small example of how public space in Helsinki continues to evolve. Within this context, the TÖÖLÖ collection becomes part of a changing city landscape, where infrastructure, mobility, and everyday use meet.
The TÖÖLÖ collection was originally developed in response to a need to create a linear bench that could be integrated into a stone structure. This starting point shaped a broader concept – a versatile family of benches, chairs, and a table designed to adapt to different urban conditions while maintaining a clear and consistent design language.
At the core of the collection is a balance between warmth and structure. Vertical, subtly angled wooden elements introduce a familiar, human scale, while the steel frame provides strength, durability, and precision. The result is a design that feels both contemporary and rooted in the tradition of urban outdoor settings.
Flexibility is a key feature of TÖÖLÖ. The collection can be integrated into architectural elements such as stone bases or used as freestanding furniture. A wide selection of wood types and colour options for wooden components allows each installation to respond to its specific surroundings – whether through subtle integration or a more distinct visual presence.
Accessibility is integrated into the design through carefully considered details. Armrests and backrests provide support and comfort, while table solutions are designed to be easily approachable, ensuring the furniture works naturally for a wide range of users.
Designed for long-term use in demanding public environments, TÖÖLÖ combines durable materials with carefully considered proportions and detailing. It is suited to a wide range of urban settings, from streets and plazas to parks and courtyards.
In Töölö, the collection finds its most natural context – not as a standalone object, but as part of the everyday city fabric.
