The shelters can stand on their own or be attached to a wall.
 
The core material is steel (corten, hot-dip galvanized and/or painted). The roof can be made of safety glass, sheet metal or grating fit for plants. In pergola-type implementations the roof can be made with wooden beams.

The space for vegetation can be increased by making the walls out of steel wire mesh, which plants can grab onto. Why not also line the walls with planter pots and benches?
