More comfort for the Viitankruunu trails

In the Viitankruunu area of Salo, along the shoreline of Halikonlahti Bay, ABAU DESIGN has contributed AITTA benches with backrests to a scenic network of walking trails.

The Viitankruunu route offers a varied outdoor experience, moving between forest paths, coastal meadows, duckboards, and bird-watching points. The landscape combines elevation, open views, and quiet natural surroundings, creating a setting where both movement and rest are essential parts of the experience.

The AITTA benches are placed at key points along the trails, offering opportunities to pause, observe, and engage with the environment. Designed with a solid wooden structure and a calm, natural expression, the benches integrate into the landscape. Backrests provide additional comfort, supporting both short breaks and longer stays.

Rather than standing out, the furniture is intended to belong – becoming part of the rhythm of the route and the overall character of the area. Whether positioned along a forest path or closer to the shoreline, each element contributes to how the place is experienced.

This project reflects the role of thoughtfully designed outdoor furniture in supporting the usability and continuity of public natural environments. In Salo, the AITTA collection enhances the trail network by adding comfort and a consistent visual language to a diverse and picturesque setting.
