AITTA furniture for a landscape designed to be explored

Recently renovated Strömberg Park in Helsinki, designed by NÄKYMÄ landscape architects,  is a remarkable example of a contemporary public environment thoughtfully integrated into a residential area. Trails, boardwalks, small bridges, hills, a playful waterfall, and planting areas come together to create a dynamic public space that encourages movement, play, rest, and everyday outdoor life for visitors of all ages.

ABAU DESIGN contributed to the project with products from the AITTA collection, including benches, 11 table groups, and custom-designed platform benches developed specifically for this location. These multifunctional platforms combine AITTA-dimension timber logs with a steel frame derived from the NAANTALI collection. Their generous format allows them to function not only as benches, but also as informal picnic areas, resting platforms, or gathering points close to the landscape itself.

The structures are highly adaptable and can be installed even on sloped or uneven terrain by adjusting the height or positioning of the supporting frame. The size and shape can also be customised according to the needs of each site. In Strömberg Park, the platforms were realised in a 160 x 160 cm format, creating spacious and inviting elements up on the hill.

Designed in the sturdy and nature-inspired language characteristic of the AITTA collection, the furniture in Strömberg Park integrates naturally into the landscape without overwhelming it. Durable wooden structures, calm proportions, and carefully considered placement support the atmosphere of the park while providing long-term usability in demanding public environments.
